About Us
Dr. S Varun Kumar completed his MBBS from Manipal University and went on to do post-graduation in Radiation oncology from a prestigious regional cancer center in Bangalore, followed by DNB oncology at Hyderabad, during which time he underwent special training in cyber knife Radiosurgery and stereotactic Radiosurgery.
His areas of specialization include conventional RT, 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT, SRS, SRT and SBRT, in short, all the latest advances in radiation therapy.
He has extensive experience in the management if Head and Neck Cancers, Brain Tumors, hepatobiliary Tumors, and Gynaecological Cancers using advanced technologies like Tomotherapy and Cyberknife.
He has a special interest in functional radiosurgery and treatment of non-malignant conditions using SRS.
He has numerous oral and poster presentations in various national and international conferences and many publications in various national and international journals.

CyberKnife® System
The CyberKnife System is a non-invasive treatment for cancerous and non-cancerous tumors and other conditions where radiation therapy is indicated. It is used to treat conditions throughout the body, including the prostate, lung, brain, spine, head and neck, liver, pancreas and kidney, and can be an alternative to surgery or for patients who have inoperable or surgically complex tumors. CyberKnife treatments are typically performed in 1 to 5 sessions. The CyberKnife System has more than two decades of clinical proof and has helped thousands of cancer patients.
Tomotherapy
Tomotherapy is a type of radiation therapy used in cancer treatment. It combines intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) with computed tomography (CT) imaging to deliver precise radiation doses to the tumor while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. This targeted approach helps to improve treatment outcomes and reduce side effects. If you have any specific questions about tomotherapy, feel free to ask!
Ethos Therapy
As of my last update in September 2021, Ethos therapy is an advanced radiotherapy system developed by Varian Medical Systems, a company that specializes in cancer treatment technologies. Ethos therapy combines various features, including image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and adaptive therapy. The system allows for real-time imaging during treatment, enabling clinicians to adapt the radiation dose and target volume based on the patient’s anatomy changes. This adaptive approach helps to maximize treatment accuracy and minimize exposure to healthy tissues, potentially improving treatment outcomes and reducing side effects.
Please note that advancements and developments may have occurred since my last update, so it’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or check the latest sources for the most current information on Ethos therapy or any other medical technology.
IMRT Treatment
Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) is an advanced form of radiation therapy used to treat cancer. It delivers radiation doses with greater precision and accuracy compared to conventional radiotherapy techniques. IMRT uses computer-controlled linear accelerators to shape the radiation beams and adjust their intensity, allowing for the radiation dose to conform more closely to the shape of the tumor.
The main advantage of IMRT is its ability to deliver higher doses of radiation to the tumor while sparing nearby healthy tissues and organs. This can result in better tumor control and fewer side effects. IMRT is commonly used to treat various types of cancers, including prostate, head and neck, brain, and gastrointestinal cancers, among others.
During IMRT treatment, the radiation oncologist creates a treatment plan using specialized software based on imaging studies like CT scans or MRI. The plan determines the optimal dose and angles for the radiation beams. The linear accelerator then delivers these precisely shaped beams to the tumor from various angles.
IMRT is a significant advancement in radiation therapy and has become a standard treatment option for many cancer patients. It is important to consult with a radiation oncologist to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for each individual case.
